MUSIC THEORY
樂理課程

Understanding the theory of music is essential to improve your performance and enjoyment of music. It will also expand your improvisation flexibility. Our music theory courses are designed for students of different backgrounds and interests, as well as for students preparing for the RCM or ABRSM exams.

認識樂理對於提升演奏和欣賞音樂水平都是非常之重要的，同時樂理亦能夠擴闊你即興的能力。我們的樂理課程是為不同背景與興趣的學生以設計的，與及為學生預備皇家音樂學院（RCM）或英國皇家音樂學院（ABRSM）的考試。

JAZZ MUSIC THEORY

Jazz Harmony & Re-Harmonization I

Class size:        1 to 6 students
Course length: 12 lessons (1 hour/lesson)
Schedule:         Start anytime, flexible to the student

The course will cover the following topics:

  • Jazz harmonic structure
  • Tritone substitution
  • Modal interchange
  • Upper structures and alterations
  • Modern jazz chord pacing

ROYAL CONSERVTORY OF MUSIC (RCM) THEORY EXAM

Level 5 Exam Preparatory Course

This course is designed for students preparing for their RCM Theory level 5 examination. It will cover the whole exam syllabus and exam techniques needed.

Class size:        1 to 5 students
Couse length:  20 lessons (1 hour/lesson)

Level 8 Exam Preparatory Course

This course is designed for students preparing for their RCM Theory level 8 examination. It will cover the whole exam syllabus and exam techniques needed.

Class size:        1 to 5 students
Couse length:  20 lessons (1 hour/lesson)

Level 10 Exam Preparatory Course
(Harmony and Counterpoint, Music History)

This course is designed for students preparing for their RCM Theory level 10 examination. It will cover the whole exam syllabus and exam techniques needed.

Class size:        1 to 5 students
Couse length:  30 lessons (1.5 hour/lesson)
